Jodi Zimmerman, Speech-Language Pathologist

Jodi Zimmerman

Speech-Language Pathologist — Connected Speech

Jodi Zimmerman is a speech-language pathologist with eight years of clinical experience helping people find their own way to be understood. She holds a BSc in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Cape Town (2016) and an MSc in Augmentative & Alternative Communication from the University of Pretoria (2022), where she was named to the Dean's List.

Four years spent working in a government school for children with autism shaped the foundation of Jodi's practice, giving her a deep understanding of what people are capable of when given the right tools, the right environment, and someone who believes in them. Her master's research explored how youth empowerment programmes create participation opportunities for young people with disabilities — work that continues to inform her belief that everyone deserves a seat at the table.

Jodi specialises in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), drawing on Makaton signing, the PROMPT method, picture-based communication, and high-tech devices to build individualised therapy plans, because no two people communicate the same way.
